Maurice Boland and Peter Stringfellow
On Friday Evening Maurice had dinner with his old friend (not to be taken out of context) Peter Stringfellow at his club in London. Maurice and Peter go back a long way. In fact, Maurice attended the opening of Stringfellows Hippodrome in Leister Square in 1984. “Peter and myself have been friends for years and have always enjoyed his company and generous hospitality. I say generous because Peter has supported Talk Radio Europe’s annual telethon and has hosted numerous dinners in his clubs on behalf of Cudeca which in turn has enabled us to raise many thousands of Euros. Stringfellows has changed over the years (don’t we all?),” added Maurice. “The one thing that hasn’t changed is the standard of the food; believe me you will not get a better steak in London (or anywhere else) and that’s a promise. Overall we had a wonderful evening. I met Peter’s beautiful wife Bella for the first time and all I can say is ‘Wow!’ Peter wrote on his webpage about the evening, “Of course he fell in love with Bella and insisted on having his photo taken with her and not me... Steady Maurice, don’t forget Wendy your lovely wife. Just for the record, he didn’t have any dancers... but he did a lot of looking!!!!” Have a look at http://www.stringfellows.co.uk/ and you’ll understand what he’s talking about! I also had a chat with David Sullivan, owner of Birmingham City Football Club and The Sunday Sport newspapers among other publications. I hadn’t seen David for years and he still managed to look as young as ever, mind you some of the young girls in his company must help to contribute to his youthful looks!
