The Boland Show Guest List Wednesday 18th November: First up is one of television most loved presenters always with a smile on her face, GMTV’s Penny Smith: Penny has been a GMTV anchor since 1993 and is also the station’s main newsreader. Maurice will be talking to her about her recent trip to Uganda and its wild life. Not only does Uganda have half the world’s mountain gorillas, but, is the home of lions, leopards, elephants and magnificent scenery. Penny is also an author and her latest novel ‘After The Break’.

Next up is one of Ireland’s celebrated entertainers who succeeded in breaking into English television along with Eamon Andrews and later Terry Wogan at a time when it was almost impossible for an Irish entertainer to succeed in UK. He is the one and only Mr.Val Doonican!!

As if that wasn’t enough The Boland Show has more on offer:
The next invited guest is British Tory MP, Patrick Mercer. This week a man has been charged with the murder of undercover British army officer Robert Nairac, 32 years after he went missing in South Armagh. Nairac is one of up to a dozen men and women kidnapped, killed and buried in secret by the IRA during the troubles. Patrick, Tory MP for Newark and a former infantry officer who was with Nairac the night before the IRA killed him will explain to Maurice why he now hopes that justice will be finally done and will see the murderer put behind bars.

Boland’s final guest is: Mark Barrowcliffe who claims that plenty of comedians crack a joke on a Monday, see it on the internet on Tuesday and by Saturday they find it on the TV – being uttered by someone much more famous. Joke stealing is nothing new and it’s only quite recently that jokes have been regarded as belonging to the person who thought them up. Mark who worked as a journalist and stand up comedian before giving it all up to write books, will explain the dilemma facing many comedians who feel they have been cheated on
