The Friday Boland Guest List: Last months nursery worker Vanessa George vile admission in court that she sexually abused children in her care horrified the nation. But, for Boland’s first guest it brought back horrific memories of abuse she herself suffered at the hands of her own mother. Susannah Faithfull was subjected to years of depraved attacks and will tell us about the centre she set up for survivors of sexual abuse. Next up is Colin Knox the father of young actor Rob Knox who was fatally stabbed just after finishing work on the new Harry Potter film. Colin has over seen the setting up of a memorial fund to raise money that will be used to help campaign against street violence and knife crime.
Paul and Rachel Chandler, who were sailing from the Seychelles to Tanzania, have not been heard from since Friday, when the emergency beacon on their yacht, the Lynn Rival, was activated The pirates allegedly responsible for the hijacking off the Somali coast have threatened to "burn the bones" of the couple. One person who knows only too well what they are going through is Boland’s next guest Captain Colin Darch who was hijacked last year by Somali Pirates and held hostage for 47 days!!!! Finally could you imagine a mad world where the police hire 16 year olds, where two spilled crisps will cost you a fine of 95€, where a baby is refused a passport because it is photographed topless or where a woman faces jail for singing to her children. Well welcome to 21st century Britain. Best selling author Ala Pearce will guide us through a tsunami of shocking new laws and stupendously mad regulations. Boland on Friday at 10am.
